Hammers chase goal machine by Gonzo
Recent reports indicate that West Ham remain keen on acquiring the prolific goal scorer Serhou Guirassy from Stuttgart. Despite initial scepticism due to the player’s age, being 27 years old, the potential signing could interest David Moyes, who is seeking an experienced addition to the team.
Claret & Hugh were informed this week that Tim Steidten was looking to recruit younger players. However, with 28 year old James Ward Prowse such a success, it show’s the value of players able to hit the ground running.
Guirassy has been in scintillating form this season, notching an impressive 13 goals in just seven Bundesliga games, establishing a record-breaking performance. His goal-scoring spree includes remarkable hat-tricks against Mainz and Wolfsburg, as well as notable braces against Freiburg, Bochum, and Darmstadt. These goals have propelled Stuttgart to a remarkable second position in the league, trailing behind the early frontrunners, Bayer Leverkusen (ironically Steidten’s former club).
Despite having recently secured a permanent move to Stuttgart in the summer and signing a three-year contract, following a successful loan spell from Rennes. Guirassy’s exceptional performances have drawn significant attention from scouts.
A former team-mate of Konstantinos Mavropanos, Guirassy’s goal-scoring achievements have shattered previous records. He’s even started the season by outscoring Harry Kane, who is notching more than a goal per game for Bayern Munich.
Considering West Ham’s likely pursuit of a striker to provide cover for Michail Antonio this season, Guirassy appears to be a viable option. His style of play and suitability for the Premier League have reportedly attracted interest from at least four English clubs.
