ClaretandHugh has this evening learned that Grady Diangana – on loan at West Brom – will not be permitted to play against the Hammers in the fourth round FA Cup clash at the London Stadium.

The long odds draw, which pitches David Moyes against Slaven Bilic, came out of the ‘hat’ earlier this evening and the first question concerned any participation by the on loan Hammer.

But we were told by club this evening that the rules in place don’t allow on loan players to be involved in games against their home clubs.

There appears to be some ambiguity between Premier League, Fifa and possibly FA rules although the club are confident that Diang can play no part.

And of course even if it were in any sort of doubt, the Hammers would probably have little hesitation recalling the player from his loan spell with the club.

The draw was a real long shot and the club immediately checked the rules and told us by e mail that Diangana would not be involved in the game.

The fourth round matches will be played between Friday 24 and Monday 27 January.

I doubt he will be fit to play anyway he is out injured at the moment, I fail to see why he wasn’t good enough to play for west ham in the first place he would easily get in your first team we don’t need him for the cup match anyway.

A nicely created drama, but as has been the way of it for many a year, on loan players simply do not play against their parent club. Never do.

I know that ‘Rules are Rules’ but allow him to play, that would be the best scouting opportunity available. I mean if he handles himself as we expect, then he is good enough for our first team, if not then he needs more time to develop. If he has a part in any goal, even if it means we lose then lets be honest, we were meant to lose. A player, even a West Ham player on loan to a different club, should not be the reason that we lose a game. Let him show Moyes that he is the future for West Ham
