Hammers cheer as “vaccine by Xmas” hopes rise

News that a vaccine could be available to combat Covid-19 by Christmas will have been greeted with great cheer by top people inside the London Stadium.

Speculation that NHS and care workers – followed quickly by the highly vulnerable – could be ‘jabbed’ before the  festive period could mean that fans will be back inside the stadium towards the end of the current season.

News via an e mail sent from an NHS Trust chief executive officer that this was the case broke in the media at the weekend whilst this morning Reuters have produced a highly positive report on the likely arrival of a vaccine soon https://uk.mobile.reuters.com/article/amp/idUSKBN27B0J1?fbclid=IwAR0_xtR2Si4AgMqEkMUA4gCqGi_kBUSo_m_z0VC9OduA-DcVeGc3qowPgxs.

And whilst Health secretary Nick Hancock has claimed that this is not his ” central expectation” there’s little doubt  we are now just a few six weeks away from the breakthrough.

Sources inside the club were thrilled with the news and believe as a result fans could be back inside the stadium in socially distanced terms initially – maybe as early as February or March.

They had written off this season as one in which fans could be watching from the terraces but now believe there’s a good chance that could happen.
