Hammers claimed to hold Porto striker interest

Porto striker Moussa Marega is reportedly being chased by the Hammers who have apparently have Spurs and Chelsea for company.

All three London outfits are being firmly linked with the 27 year old who has made his desire to move clear saying: “I’ve liked [the Premier League] for a long time. Then again, who doesn’t? It’s a great league, with great players.

“It’s flattering when clubs are interested in you, but I’ve always dreamed of playing there. I want to be happy, with my family, in a league I love.”

The Mali international has been with Porto since January 2016, but became a key player in the team when returning from a loan spell at Vitoria.

The 27-year-old hot the bet 22 times helping Porto win the Primeira Liga, and obviously alerting scouts from throughout the Premier League.

ZeroZero name the Hammers as among the interested clubs but claim he will only be sold if the £35million (€40m) release clause if his contract is triggered.

In making his wish to leave known earlier in the month the player added: ““For me, I think it’s the best time to try my luck elsewhere, to try something new, get to know a new league.

“It pains me to say this, because I’m very attached to this club, to its fans who give me a lot.”

  1. After a couple of half decent signings we are just jumping from player to player with no end product ..pre season is a week away and we are still doin g th i s ….really thought it might be differ this year especially after a piece on here saying pellegrini likes to get his buisness done early…

    • Might be wrong Kip but I think most of what we are reading is pure speculation by lazy Journo’s or ones starved of any real news, seems like every window it is the same, we do seem to be interested in Felipe Anderson but other than that we don’t seem to have any genuine targets, Fulham allegedly turned down a £20m bid for Cairney but don’t think that was ever made official so who knows ? We are not in Europe so unlikely to attract any World Class talent I am hoping Pellegrini has some South American talent in the pipeline that has flown under the radar.

  2. Doesn’t Marega remind you of someone? Lukaku, perhaps.
He is one of those lesser known talents, who has just about all the attributes you would want from a top class striker; the mere sight of him is enough to scare a bull-dog out of a butcher’s store. Imagine him playing upfront with Arnautovic? Providing they could get a consistent supply of decent passes, they could be a sensational pairing!
Worth the money-definitely, although I doubt that we have the funds to secure his services.

  3. Just more of the same . Unknown players suddenly appearing out of the woodwork .
Why don’t we just leave all the nonsense behind us and wait for Pellegrini to make informed and influential sighnings . We have all seen some good players so far during this World Cup but that doesn’t mean they are suitable for West Ham or the prem .
For example ; Messi wouldn’t last a half season in the prem . Whereas Ronaldo would slip right in . Slomov for me ( Russian) would be ideal .

  4. The amount of supporters that get themselves all worked up and throw their toys out of their prams over media speculation is quite incredible!
