West Ham are reported to be close to loaning RB Leipzig striker André Silva, as Claret & Hugh wrote on 13th January.

We broke the news on C&H and Hammers Chat after learning that the much-travelled former AC Milan striker has caught the attention of data analyst Maximilian Hahn, whose growing influence on transfer decisions has led to the recommendation of the Portuguese forward.

The 29-year-old first turned heads when he moved from Porto to AC Milan for over £30 million. Subsequent stints at Sevilla and Eintracht Frankfurt followed, with Silva enjoying a prolific season at the latter.

Standing 6ft tall, Silva joined Leipzig from Frankfurt in 2021 for a €23 million fee but has struggled to replicate his earlier form.

It’s understood that Silva remains very much a backup option for West Ham should they fail to land any of their major targets. Claret & Hugh understands that the Hammers were offered one of Europe’s hottest young striking prospects yesterday but opted to turn down the opportunity, preferring to focus on securing a main striker signing next season.

I remember someone telling a fellow apprentice if you’ve nothing sensible to say then say nothing. This site should do the same so much shite re transfers it’s the same every season. It’s the same on bbc sport website man u are always going to buy every player going. Until there is something actually happening say nothing.

We turned down one of the brightest young striker talents in Europe to sign an injury prone 29 year old journeyman striker on loan instead… Well that confirms David Sullivan is in charge of transfers again.

Sullivan gets worse!! He needs to go asap

    You couldn’t make it up…..

Delap…..it’s a no brainier…..or of course TC and Frankie…..I’m sure FMc wouldn’t mind earning a few quid for a few months….

  • M B says:

Fits the profile of a Sullivan signing 🤦‍♂️

  • Martyn says:

Defo no, desperate again. Pay the money and get a proper young top striker. When will they learn!

  • Dean says:

Since 2021 silva has played 91 games and scored the grand total of 19 goals, he’s nearly 30 so max Hann is either stupid, really bad at his job or is being lined up to be the next fall guy for sullivans incompetence and his determination to be driven down one way streets by his favoured agents

  • Sullivan out says:

Totally underwhelming signing if this is true.
He used to be ok 5 seasons ago but not now.
Prepare to chalk him up then on Sullivans huge list of forwards that do absolutely nothing for the club…..I’m surprised Sullivan hasn’t tried to get Benny McCarthy back or Mido or even Chamakh for that matter….
Unfortunately we will never achieve anything untill our pygmy ringmaster leaves this Circus that he’s running….

We all know who is really at fault. Until we organize, nothing will ever change. We have had 15 years of this sh**! Birmingham City had 16 years of the same tripe and warned us! Have they ever recovered! It’s like half-drowning a man, but never actually killing him. Do just enough to get the huge assassin hitman fees. Birmingham City fans don’t blame the sucker Carson Yeung (who brought the club after), they blame it on ‘him’, Brady & Gold.

  • SirAlfred says:

29 years old. Yep that sounds like a West ham player. Must be slow too of course, check, out of form, check, injury prone

  • Al says:

Turned down one of the best young strikers in Europe?! Why on earth would we do that we need more than one striker for next season anyway, Antonio, ings, contracts up and fullkrug no doubt will be sold as a huge loss as we usually do.

Surely it would make sense to get a good young striker now, get them settled. Who knows they could be our main striker next season then if they aren’t quite ready then you buy the main striker in the summer and you have 2 good strikers, what am I missing why on earth would they turn down a good young striker in our current position have they not learned from Duran?

I’m sick to death of how poorly this club is run.

If this guy was brilliant would the Manchester United manager not be trying to sign him?
