Hammers confirm Nasri medical but not his wages

West Ham have confirmed that Samir Nasri is set to join the Hammers as widely reported this morning (Mon).

The former Arsenal and Manchester City star has agreed personal terms with the club although they remain unconfirmed despite several sources including the Daily Star claiming they amount to £80k a week.

However, a senior source in regular contact with ClaretandHugh by telephone explained: “The wages must remain confidential but some of the salary is related to appearances.

Reports that he is undergoing a medical are correct but our source added: “That will take place over a few days and is certainly not completed at this stage.

The out of contract Nasri and Manuel Pellegrini now look certain to be reunited following their time together at Manchester City and he fulfils the manager’s requirements of playing creative football.

Nasri is serving a 18-month ban for an anti-doping violation for using a drip treatment at a Los Angeles clinic. His ban ends at the end of December. Under the terms of his ban, he is allowed to train at a club from the beginning of November but cannot play until the beginning of January

Commenting on his general approach to tactics on the official website this morning at www.whufc.com he said:”I prefer teams that start the game thinking to win it and not just to have a good result, no matter who you’re playing. That’s why I try to put creative and technical players in the starting XI.

ClaretandHugh’s view

Samir Nasri WAS a good player but he’s had plenty of issues since he left Pellegrini at Manchester City during the boss’ spell in charge up there. He left for Sevilla on loan deal before moving on to Turkish outfit Turkish side Antalyaspor on a two-year contract for a reported €3.5 million transfer fee. We aren’t convinced that any player currently without a contract is a great idea given their history in the Premier League with Patrice Evra being the last example at West Ham. Nasri is very much the manager’s pick and it remains to be seen whether he has anything left in his locker after those often brilliantly creative days earlier in the PL. The boss reached back for his earlier recollections of Jack Wilshere which hasn’t been the most successful move in the world at this point.  Let’s hope that both he and Nasri can prove their points but we certainly have doubts about the latest midfield addition.

If he is Pelligrini choice then you have to trust that he has something to give the team. We have to give the guy a chance . I will support every player in the team who gives their all . PS yes I agree we have to sort Rice out as well COYI ⚒

What have we to lose?We all know the midfield is threadbare and lacking a bit of creativity.Agree with Hammerkip on the Rice situation though, however if Pelle can get him anywhere near his best you never know.At 31 he has time unlike Evra who was a shadow of his former self at 36.

He isn’t good enough for a 3rd rate Turkish side but he is good enough for us😂😂 they will pay him upwards of 60/70 k but won’t give rice 30 k a week…work that one out …ha ha ha
