Hammers confirm no Everton bid for Iron

By Hughie Southon

West Ham have had no bid for Ben Johnson despite claims that one may be on the way from Everton.

Football Insider is claiming the relegation struggling outfit are plotting a move for the Hammers utility player with new boss Sean Dyche being a big admirer of the Hammers academy product.

The site claims “Incoming Goodison Park manager Sean Dyche has sanctioned a move for the 23-year-old as he is a big admirer of his versatility and proven Premier League calibre.”

Johnson and his agents have been snubbing offers from the club but the Irons have made it clear that Johnson’s lack of form over recent months hasn’t helped and that they are no longer talking to his representatives.

However, they insists that there has been no bid from anywhere for the player and that Everton boss Dyche probably has a list of 12 he is probably looking at after accepting the Toffees job.

A Hammers source told us: “We’ve had no bid. I imagine they are looking at a dozen players.”

  1. Let him go , massively overated, let him go & go all out to keep Ashby

  2. 100% agree, would let him go even if Ashby is already gone.

  3. Ashby sadly has gone. Only Johnson left to challenge Coufal. Dyche will save Everton- will Moyes keep us in The Prem? Be funny if Ashby plays Saturday.

  4. He has had plenty of time and chances in first team and not a patch on Couval so not up to the level we need. Yet another Academy product that falls short!!
