Hammers consider Manchester City rematch date

|

West Ham are considering re-playing their Manchester City Premier League away game next Wednesday 19th February.

The game was postponed on Sunday over safety concerns due to Storm Ciara but Manchester City’s European schedule makes it difficult to reschedule before the end of the season.

The Hammers and the Premier League are considering the date proposed by Manchester City which falls within the Premier League winter break period.

West Ham players have not played since 1st February when they drew 3-3 against Brighton at the London Stadium and have been given five days off with families to rest and been told to report back for training at Rush Green this Saturday.

That would give them four dates to prepare for the re-scheduled Manchester City game should the date gain approval.

West Ham have offered free coach travel or full refunds for the re-arranged match once confirmed also suggesting supporters seek compensation from train companies or seek advice from the citizen’s advice bureau over travel expenses over their failed journies last Sunday.

Should tell them to jump, how can supporters make arrangements in that time.
Then again when have they thought about the fans…

  • The Cat says:

Personally, it isn’t even worth considering arranging the game during the “Official” break. As it is NOT to our advantage.
Let’s hope “Considering” is polite for thanks, but no thanks!

Have the winter break and play at the end of the season…….West Ham need a break like everyone else… I think there’s a conspiracy against West Ham…….,

  • The Honest Friend says:

Yep I agree about trying to put it just before potential cup ties if possible.

    What is the source for

“…considering the date proposed by Manchester City”

  • Hammerpete says:

All the other clubs have the full winter break – ours is planned for the players – why should we cut it short? The rest and training plan is set – don’t risk injury to accommodate City’s European fixtures. If we face relegation and have availability issues will they accommodate us? Do what is best for West Ham.

  • Innocuous Sparrow says:

We should play it as late in the season as possible, aiming for when City have maybe nothing to play for in the league and possibly Champions League considerations.

  • blimey! says:

can’t mess with the sanctity and tradition of the winter break…….. play it in May when it won’t matter to either team ….
