Hammers consider move for South American right back

AriasWest Ham is considering a move for PSV right back Santiago Arias reports in Holland claim.

Swansea has been linked with the 25-year-old in the past but according to Voetbal Premieur, West Ham is one of two clubs currently chasing Arias along with Bayer Leverkusen.

The Colombian is said to be open to leaving Holland this summer despite being under contract until 2019 and has admitted in the past that he hopes to play in the Premier League one day.

Arias was a youth product of the La Equidad academy in Columbia and graduated into the senior squad in 2009. He was scouted by Sporting Lisbon while representing the Columbia U20 side and moved to Europe, spending most of his time with their reserve squad. He made 28 appearances for them and seven for the first team but failed to nail down a regular spot in the first team.

Arias was linked with a move to PSV in 2013 but nothing came off, though it did later that year when he moved to Holland on a four-year deal for around £1m. He’s gone on to make more than 100 appearances for the Dutch team and valued around £5m.

  1. Not a lot of shots of him defensively but looks good going forward from those clips.
