West Ham’s hierarchy are set to offer a new contract to Ben Johnson after his incredible rise at the club, according to the London Evening Standard.
The right-back has emerged as a genuine first-team star since deputising for Vlad Coufal in the wake of his injury.
The Standard’s confirmation comes after CandH first broke the news a week ago.
Johnson was even selected to play against Liverpool at the weekend over Vladi Coufal when he was excellent at the back as the Hammers recorded a huge 3-2 win over the Reds at the London Stadium.
In total, the 21-year-old has made nine appearances for the club this season, including outings in the Europa League, and he is yet to taste defeat in the Premier League, even scoring in the 4-1 win over Aston Villa.
West Ham do hold the option to extend Johnson’s contract by two years and wuill offer the player a decent fresh deal.
