Hammers consider Xande Silva decision

|

Distant hopes that Xande Silva could act as emergency cover for either Seb Haller or Albian Ajeti in the event of injury are being considered by the Hammers.

However, the highly promising Portuguese youngster is still recovering from hospital treatment for a bowel obstruction and won’t be available until October the earliest.

And with only one first team appearance behind him in an FA Cup clash against Birmingham City last season – he will need plenty of under 23s action to be anywhere near fit enough for inclusion in the first team squad.

Silva was included on the bench at various times before he fell ill and needed surgery and the Hammers will need now to decide whether he should be promoted to the squad for Chicharito once the striker joins Sevilla or wait until January and bring in a new signing.

The youngster – who looked comfortable on his one appearance in the team last season – is on a special recovery programme and is a player in whom the manager sees great potential.

With Antonio (as an emergency front man) potentially out for a while too, we need to hope the Gods are looking favourably at us… What other options do we have up front? We’re a bit light, although given the potency of Anderson, Lanzini, Fornals and Yarmo, I wouldn’t bet against us if we played without a recognised striker again!

Happy with this article and main thought. This kid is definitely gifted shaped in the mould of a Martial … and would learn much from Haller … as could Ajeti. Always rated Xander, and feels his disappointment with his injuries/sicknesses. May he strengthen up nicely and come back strong. Anothe candidate for a long time is … Holland. May he too, soon get his chance into the 1st team and show his worth.

Imo Yarmelenko could be a great option as a front man if need be, and we have enough options in midfield to cover him if this were the case

    Mr Buddy
    I concur
At a pinch most could cover as a striker, plus we have Holland who could step up.
I know I will get laughed at but with his on ball strength Snoddy could even fill in at a pinch

I see Jordan Hugill is banging them in for QPR…..🤔🤔🤔

He can’t be in any doubt now as to Pellegrini’s opinion of him.

  • Hollywood Hammer says:

Yes,Huggil just scored another 2 for QPR.Thats 5 goals to his name already. He could get 20 goals this season if He keeps going like this. But,He’s also under a year contract thatcant be broken.
