Hammers cool on Costa speculation

Bad boy Diego Costa is the latest name to be punted as a possible Irons striker signing this summer.

Darren Lewis – with good links to the Hammers – is claiming this morning that the 30 year old is on his way out of Atletico Madrid  where he went on strike in 2017 after three stormy years at Chelsea.

It’s probably not a bad idea to take everything with a pinch of salt at this stage as it has become well known the Irons have a long list of targets.

Lewis claims that Everton and Wolves   have also been discussed as possible destinations for him, but adds none of the three clubs has yet made a firm bid for the Brazil-born Spain international.

Howerver a senior Hammers source told Claret and Hugh that it was an unlikely move saying on e mail: “I can’t see that happening. He has shown he can cause  issues and perhaps he’s not the player he once was.”

ClaretandHugh says: Nobody in the world can dispute Costa’s past goal scoring abilities. In his final year at Chelsea he hit the net 21 times having grabbed 13 in the previous season. He’s a pest but has serious attitude and it seems that we would probably be inheriting some more problems following the departure of Arnautovic. He really doesn’t seem the sort of character that Manuel Pellegrini would be overly interested in as he seeks to stabilise the dressing room after the troubles caused by dramas surrounding the Austrian and his brother. This looks like a non starter, thankfully.

  1. I’m not sure why you’d say thankfully but were behind the Higuain loan signing. Higuain is a classic case of someone winding down his career having earned his money. Out of shape and nowhere near the player he was. Never been a grafter. Costa is the opposite, he would die for the team and exactly the kind of guy we’d need with a point to prove. I for one would love for us to sign him.

  2. More like we can’t afford his wages ?

  3. He’s trouble. No thanks.
