West Ham’s need for another left back means they’re surely planning on an acquisition this summer: Aaron Cresswell’s departure along with the rumoured sale of Emerson Palmieri means there is a big skills shortage. Only Aaron Wan Bissaka and teen Ollie Scarles are  likely to be around to fulfil both the full back and wing back roles.

After a serious knee injury last year, Fenerbahce defender Jaydon Oosterwolde is reported to be back on West Ham’s watch list. Out of action since October, it is claimed by sportwitness.co.uk that the Hammers are again looking at the talented 24 year-old.

He’s a versatile left sided defender who can also slot in as a centre back when needed -but with a contract until 2027 he won’t come cheap. As the report sets out:

“With the 24-year-old now in recovery there is speculation ahead of the transfer window that clubs could come in for him. It’s claimed the player is on the agenda of West Ham and Newcastle United.

However, the two English sides should expect to face competition for the defender, with reports PSV and Napoli are also monitoring the situation.”

Risky business, bringing in players who have’t shown match fitness after serious injuries. On the bright side it normally makes them more affordable.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.
