Hammers could snap up defender in January

West Ham could snap up Niklas Stark from Hertha Berlin in the January transfer window, according to a report in Germany.

The Irons are in the market for a new centre-back to cover for the injury of Angelo Ogbonna, who has been ruled out for the remainder of the season.

Hertha are said to be somewhat opposed to any deal that would see Stark leave the club but provided the offer is at the right level, Fussball Transfers reports that a transfer could be on the cards.

That is based on the potential of Hertha signing a replacement prior to the end of the window to replace Stark.

Stark is a twice-capped Germany international and has made a total of 181 appearances for Hertha since 2015, playing 12 times in all competitions this term.

David Moyes is reported to be a big fan of the centre-back as he looks to bring in cover for the Italian, who remains on the treatment table.
