Hammers dealt transfer blow

|

West Ham have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Middlesbrough defender Isaiah Jones, according to Football League World.

The Hammers are reported to have been pursuing a deal to sign the winger, who plays primarily on the right, and is also capable of playing as a wing-back.

Jones has also attracted interest from Crystal Palace and the Irons are said to have sent scouts to watch him play on numerous occasions.

However, Football League World has reported that the Championship club have no interest in allowing Jones to leave this season.

There was some speculation that a deal could be done in January but that now looks increasingly unlikely.

Still, the Irons are likely to continue keeping tabs on his development, giving David Moyes’ penchant for signing promising players from the lower-leagues.

Jones is 23 and has a contract with Boro until 2025; they are currently 21st in the Championship but the tight nature of the league means they are just nine points off the play-offs.
