Hammers deducted points and fined

By Sean Whetsone

West Ham are out of the EFL Trophy competition after fielding an ineligible player.

West Ham’s Under 21s have been knocked out out of the Papa John’s EFL Trophy after young defender Aji Alese played in a game when suspended.

The EFL confirmed that the Hammers were docked three points in the competition for their indiscretion.

The incident happened when Alese played in their final group game against Gillingham last month.

West Ham says they acknowledge the sanctions received from The FA and EFL in relation to our Under-21 team’s participation in this season’s EFL Papa John’s Trophy.

  1. I seem to remember this sort of thing happening not so long ago after a FA cup game ? If so there needs to be a shake up in the administration dept as the club knew the rules and cannot hide behind the inability of the FA to get things right … surprise surprise .

  2. Not moaning at all Hugh . I actually said that the decision was correct . Situation at the club has improved dramatically but still a long way to go .
