Hammers defender Mavropanos has time to recover

There is a potential cause of worry around our new centre back Konstantinos Mavropanos.

He is still recovering from a slight back injury which led to rumours of him failing his medical although the international break will help his cause hopefully.

The 25 year old had missed 75 competitive games since he broke into the first team at the Greek side PAS Giannina.

It may not be Andy Carroll territory but nevertheless, it is a slight cause for concern

In our time in the Premier League, the Irons have had 48 different nationalities playing for them but in  Mavropanos becomes the first-ever Greek player to play for the club

There have been only 29 to play in the Premier League as a whole. And as things stand there are just two others in the top tier – one of whom half qualifies as a Greece international.

They are Liverpool’s Greek international Kostas Tsimikas and the decidedly un-Greek sounding Baldock  of Sheffield United, who through the Jack Charlton school of qualification is now eligible to play for Greece.

75 competitive games missed? That’s a hell of a lot! Are we missing out any other important information regarding Konstantinos Mavropano? The only thing I really know is that his name is a bit too long to fit on the teamsheet!
