Hammers defender signs a new deal

By Hughie Southon

Angelo Ogbonna has signed for  another year at the club agreeing a new deal a month ago.

The central defender – out since last November after breaking down against Liverpool at the London Stadium – has been treated entirely properly by the club after seven years of service.

We were told this afternoon when inquiring of our insider: “We did a deal a month ago when taking up the option on his contract – we were delighted to do so. We’ve missed him and his return will help us a lot”

Oggy has been  entirely uncomplaining during his time at the club  despite being unfancied at times before battling his way back into favour.

His absence was regularly noticed at times last term when his ability to get things moving down the left side of the team wasn’t available.

The Hammers made it clear to Claret and Hugh several months ago that they would be offering him a new deal and have been true to their word.
