Exciting times these, at West Ham. Not quite sure that I’ve ever been so interested in the team sheet for an away fixture against Fulham! I need to get out more.
Following the two week break, Julen Lopetegui has had new recruits Jean-Clair Todibo, Aaron Wan Bissaka and Max Kilman working hard under his scrutiny. The three have not all started a game together as yet – but surely the time has come for our new look back-line to be unleashed.
Combined with ‘old guard’ Emerson ( who has committed his future to The Hammers despite interest form Turkey), West Ham now have the enticing prospect of a defensive quartet that can start to put together clean sheets and alter last seasons’ dreadful record of being one of the least watertight defenses in the Premier League.
Is this tough on Mavropanos? I guess so, but the Greek always seems to have a mistake in him during 90 minutes and the West Ham heirarchy have spent huge amounts on bringing in reinforcements: I don’t see Todibo having come to warm the bench and we know Lopetegui has not been slow to make game-time promises in order to secure transfers.
Jean-Clair Todibo turned down a move to Juventus in favour of West Ham (doesn’t that sound great!) but in return he must be expecting to start for The Hammers.
I will be watching for the team sheet with interest: West Ham’s ‘new era’ trio of summer signings must be on the team sheet if we are truly to become a challenger for that coveted European spot this season.
It’s ‘defence’, not ‘defense’ – unless you’re American.
Would it be a good idea to play all three centre backs while we don’t have a fourth choice centre back with first team experience?
