Hammers’ Desperation To Ditch Midfielder | Asking Price Revealed

The Premier League has proved too much of a challenge for one Hammers summer recruit from la Liga.  Although an ever-present in Lopetegui’s selections, Guido Rodriguez has looked one-dimensional and lacking in pace since the start of his Hammers’ career. The 30 year old Argentinian was clearly not up to Premier League pace when he arrived on a ‘free’ transfer – allegedly plucked from the jaws of a deal with Barcelona, no less.

He has struggled and hasn’t been helped by having the erratic and volatile Edson Alvarez alongside him, to be honest, and within 3 months news was being leaked that the player realised he’d made a huge mistake and was desperate to go back to Real Betis.

West Ham confirmed last week that they would not allow him to leave on a ‘free’ as there had been a considerable signing – on fee paid to Rodriguez, and wished to recoup that payment or he’d be going nowhere.

From a report in Spain today, the exact amount required by West Ham to allow ~Rodriguez to leave is made public  -and it makes an exit much more likely in January.

Elgolddigital.com report that:”At the moment the South American midfielder is valued at 20 million euros, but the British team will only ask for 3 million. The reason is simple, that was what they paid for the player, as a “signing bonus.” So the English entity just wants to get its money back and that’s it. For the Sevillian club, it is a very comfortable figure, so they will not miss the opportunity.”

So, forgiving the slightly quaint google translate English, it is clear that – hurrah – £3 million is the nominal figure required to send Guido on his way back to Real Betis. And the likelihood is that they’ll pay it, so that this sorry chapter of mis-recruitment can be brought to an end.

Obvious to me if he wants to leave he accepts what wages Betis offer as he and Betis are in no position to think we should subsidise his wages especially when he is valued at 20 mil and we can let him go for 3 mil.
To many times does this club allow the football World to take the mick out of us ,we need as a club to grow a pair.

I’m sure Real Betis will try and beat Westham down on the 3 million as well as part paying his salary . Half the deals done this summer by Westham seem like scams .
