Hammers Development team need to do better

|

Terry Westley’s Development Team are rooted to the bottom of the Barclays Under 21 Premier League Division 2.

The young Hammers have lost over their three opening games and already have a goal difference of -7.  The Hammers youngsters were relegated from Division 1 of the Barclays Under 21 league last season but they have fared equally poorly in their opening games.

The West Ham Academy costs over £4m to run and Terry Westley was bought in by the board to shake it up and rebuilt it from ground up. While the ultimate goal is to create home grown players who come through to the first team to give a financial return on the investment made each year, there is also an expectation they are competitive within the Under 21 leagues too. There was also an expectation they would challenge to get promoted back to the more competitive division one this season.

West Ham were thumped 5-0 at the Emirates Stadium by Arsenal Under 21’s two weeks ago after previously losing to Aston Villa and West Brom 2-1. The youngsters play their next game on Monday 14th September against Blackburn Rovers in Elwood park looking for their first win and their first points.

This is the guy running our academy, Robbie Keane and Gerrard rate the kid and he is scoring goals for fun, Westley says his engine wasn’t big enough and he had too much flair… This is the problem with these muppets in charge of our academies, clueless obsessed with numbers that have little meaning if you can’t translate them effectively.

If this guy was in charge of FC Barcelona Messi and Iniesta would have been released…

We already had a great coach in tony Carr !!!
He had been here for as long as I can remember bringing through players but
something went a miss and was replaced by westly from the Dave’s ex club brum!!!!!
He seems to have brought his family along to as his son has done the rounds at different clubs and I think has been loaned out abroad??. Also there was some bad press with the
Junior academy coach for verbal abuse and it is said that he also is a family member ????
I think tony Carr went off to the spuds as usual they always seem to get hold of something
Of value from the hammers! Lol.
Why would a life time player and coach leave ?????
Bring him back and give him the resources Westley has got and weave his magic .!!!!!
Also westly demoted Steve Potts from his position and claimed the position for himself
But I’m not sure on that !!!! Maybe someone can enlighten us on the points I’ve made !!!!

To be fair all the brightest talents, the Reece oxfords and josh cullens etc have been plucked for the first team. Just have to wait for the next crop.

We could do with a great coach like a Peter Taylor or a Glen Roeder to come in/back and sort it out, a number of decent players were released at the end of last season, it is hard to understand why in some cases.
