Hammers digging deep for Reid

West Ham United have made Winston Reid an offer that would make him the highest paid defender in the club’s history.

winston-reid-west-ham-united_3009997The Irons have been negotiating hard with the Kiwi and his advisers since his return from holidays.

And ClaretandHugh understands that the offer on the table will also make him the highest paid defender outside of the top six clubs.

Reid’s advisers entered negotiations demanding around £75k a week but West Ham are understood to have made a final offer of £60k.

Reid and his advisory team are considering what is now believed to be the club’s final offer very seriously.

A Hammers source explained exclusively to us: “It’s a massive deal for the club and a sign of their real desire to keep him.”

“There’s some optimism now that a contract will be signed. The only thing it seems that could change that would be a move from a top five or six outfit.

“That has happened and there haven’t been any inquiries but the club is now hopeful Winston will remain a Hammer.”
