Hammers drop sponsor for Europa game

West Ham will kick off their 2021/22 UEFA Europa League campaign this evening against Dinamo Zagreb in away shirts without their main sponsor logo on it.

The players will instead be wearing shirts featuring the logo of the Club’s charitable Foundation.

The logo has been given prominence on the back of the Hammers home and away kit, situated underneath the players’ shirt numbers, highlighting the Club and Foundation’s work in supporting local charities, good causes and social support programmes.

The display of gambling sponsorship logos is banned in certain countries.

However, last week Uefa named rival betting platform Bwin as the latest sponsor for its Uefa Europa League and Europa Conference League competitions.

Bwin takes the designation of ‘Official Sports Betting Partner’ of both competitions, with the deal running across the 2021-24 commercial cycle.

The Premier League is reviewing whether it add a future ban of gambling sponsors when current dals with clubs expire. A decision is expected later this season.
