Hammers duo to save Irons big transfer fees

|

West Ham believe they have a couple of academy products who could save them substantial amounts in the summer transfer market.

Ben Johnson excited the boss and the first team squad with his attitude and application in Malaga before making his first team debut at Manchester City.

And given his ability to operate on both sides of the back four could easily become No 1 or two to any of Aaron Cresswell, Ryan Fredericks or Pablo Zabaleta.

A Hammers source told us on the phone: “He is a hugely exciting player and could save us a great deal of money in the summer transfer market – his versatility is excellent and he will almost certainly be one of those getting more game time next season.”

And England under 20 keeper Nathan Trott is the second player exciting the club at the moment having signed a new deal over the last 24 hours.

With Adrian looks set to leave the club at the end of his contract this summer Trott could be loaned out to a Championship club for a year before being brought back to the London Stadium as the regular No 2 to Lukasz Fabianski.

We were told by the same source: “That would mean we would only need to bring in a back up keeper on a year’s contract. Nathan is seen as the future.”
