Hammers eye former Man U defender

West Ham are keen to hold talks with former Manchester United defender Rafael Da Silva as boss Manuel Pellegrini looks to reinforce his back line in a big way this summer.

The Brazilian right back is on a free transfer at French Ligue One outfit Lyon at the end of the season and the Irons are ready to make a moveĀ  on the 28 year old who has made 13 appearances for the French side this campaign..

Da Silva spent seven years at Old Trafford between the 2008/09 season and 2004 making 109 appearances and scoring five goals and during his time at Lyon has appeared 82 times.

Now after three years in France he is keen to make a Premier League return and the Hammers are tracking a player who would give them serious options on the right side of the back four.

The interest in the Brazilian – twice capped for the national side – follows Pellegrini’s reported links to Leonardo Koutris and Alaves central defender Guillermo Maripan which have been reported on CandH today.
