Reports in Spain suggest that West Ham are showing interest in a potential January transfer for Brahim Diaz, who is uncertain about his future at Real Madrid. It would appear the Spanish super-club are ready to ditch Diaz, despite him recently signing a contract extension until 2027.

The 24-year-old has experienced a fluctuating career, struggling to break through during his younger years at Manchester City. However, he impressed during a three-year loan stint at AC Milan. Diaz played nearly 100 games for the Rossoneri, scoring 13 goals. During that longs lone spell, he made his solitary appearance for the Spain national side.

Diaz was considered a favourite of manager Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, where they had high hopes for his progression to the first team.

Since returning to Real Madrid this season, Diaz has found limited first-team opportunities, potentially paving the way for a move this winter. Spanish daily newspapers indicated West Ham’s interest.

Diaz is a versatile player, capable of operating as an attacking midfielder or a winger. However, reports from Spain suggesting he could be utilised as a centre forward at West Ham are far from accurate. Standing at 5 ft 7, Diaz does not fit David Moyes‘s ideal forward profile. It’s worth noting that despite his nationality, Diaz qualifies as a homegrown player due to joining Manchester City at the age of 15.
