Hammers eye strikers amid Sakho exit worries

diafra-sakho-west-ham-crystal-palace_3447376West Ham are watching a number of strikers ahead of the January transfer window fearing that “unpredictable” Diafra Sakho will again push for a move.

The Hammers striker will see duty with the Senegal international team this evening as he returns to form  with the Irons but the club know there are no guarantees he won’t push for another move in the winter window.

French outfit Rennes remain keen after offering West Ham €9 million euros in the summer –  short of a fee the manager was  ready to accept ahead of the ill-fated medical before the striker returned to the London Stadium.

Sakho has looked in good nick since then but the front man is valued at a minimum of €14m and Rennes will have to dig deep by their standards to land the player.

We were told: “We’d love to hold onto him but there are no guarantees and we shall need to see how things pan out during the next window.

“We are keeping our eyes peeled for strikers and should Sakho depart we would hope to replace him although we could gamble until the end of the season on Chicharito, Carroll and Ayew with Antonio as back up.

  1. “we could gamble until the end of the season on Chicharito, Carroll and Ayew with Antonio as back up.”

If Sullivan sells Sakho then he needs to replace him with Walcott. Come on, Sullivan, stop mugging off the supporters.

  2. I remember hearing that if Sakho scored 6 goals by January we’d let him go or give him a new contract. He’s already half way there…..

  3. He is scoring goals and they are going to sell him lol ..I know he can be a pain but y not try and give him a few games from the start ..some players need special attention I found that out when I managed so give him a try ffs cuz when he,s happy he is a good player ..all players can’t be the model professional ..he is worth the risk in my opinion

  4. I would like to think that after last season the club would never again gamble on the fitness of either Sakho or Carroll, but here they are saying ‘we could’, not ‘we would never again’. We all make mistakes, but you have to at least try to learn from them. Keep him ( several clubs successfully held on to players this summer when it looked as if they would leave) or make sure you have a replacement – a good one- before you take the money.

  5. Sakho and Chicharito probably represent our best hopes of forming a central striking partnership which will get us the goals we want, and the points we need for elevation up the EPL table!
If our owners played it smart, they would offer Sakho an improved contract right now, to boost his self-confidence and ‘sense of belonging’ at West Ham.
I’m still not quite sure how Sakho feels at the moment, but he deserves better treatment than he has received in the past.
That said, if Bilic continues with his love affair with Andy Carroll (at the cost of keeping Sakho on the bench for most of the game), then troubles will continue at West Ham!!

  6. Nobody knows where Sakho’s head will be come January, or his fitness for that matter. If he keeps scoring then even Bilic cannot ignore him, and he will get opportunities, against the spuds in the carrot cup for one. Sakho is where he is because of his attitude and fitness. I like others would prefer to see him played up top alongside Chic so we are mobile and harder to mark, but he ain’t blameless here. The guy can be a complete **** and is probably an absolute nightmare to manage and be around.

  7. It all comes down to money in the end.
If someone offers West Ham £25mil for Sakho, you would have to take it.
If some cheeky blighter is offering £10mil.
    **** OFF!
