West Ham United are intensifying their pursuit of Fenerbahce defender Jayden Oosterwolde, according to Turkish media reports.
The 23-year-old Dutchman, who can comfortably play both centre-back and left-back, has emerged as a target for the Hammers. Last week, journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu revealed West Ham requested recordings of Oosterwolde’s performances against rivals Galatasaray from his agent. This suggests a thorough scouting process by the Premier League club.
However, West Ham face a potential hurdle in their pursuit. Fenerbahce president Ali Koç has made it clear that Oosterwolde will only be allowed to leave for an “extraordinary” offer. This stance is further emphasised by reports in the Turkish media, which claim the Turkish club values the defender at no less than €20 million.
West Ham are expected to make their intentions clear soon. According to Sports Digitale, the Hammers will submit an “official offer” to Fenerbahce next week. The details of this offer remain unknown, but it will need to meet Fenerbahce’s financial demands if West Ham are to secure Oosterwolde’s signature.
Oosterwolde’s versatility would be a valuable asset for West Ham’s new manager, Julen Lopetegui. The Dutchman’s ability to play in multiple defensive positions could provide much-needed depth and flexibility to the Hammers’ backline.
All these overseas, untried in the EPL, players who cost silly money.
What about our outstanding defenders in the U21s? Surely it’s a similar risk but for free?
Sick of all the gossip about these crappy players pulled out useless site’s assholes.
