Hammers eyeing new centre-back who began at Real Madrid

West Ham are eyeing a move to sign Nice defender Flavius Daniliuc, according to The Daily Mail.

The Irons and Southampton are said to be interested in a move for the 20-year-0ld in this transfer window.

Daniliuc earned a spot at the Real Madrid academy before making the move to Bayern Munich and is now playing in the French top-flight.

An Austria U21 international, the defender operates primarily as a centre-back but he can also play at right-back and a defensive midfielder.

He has only had one season in top-flight professional football, though, as he made 23 appearances in Ligue 1 for Nice, scoring once.

Bayern were actually said to be keen on extending his contract before he left but he opted to make the move to France instead; he had captained the U19s, such is his talent.

Southampton are also said to have an interest but Nice may not be under pressure to sell him, as he has a contract that runs until 2024.

  1. Call me old fashioned. Is there any hope we might sign someone one day ?

    • There is no chance of gsb spending any money while there is a take over in the offing.forget all you rea d in the media most is pure fiction and is only there to justify their excistence.the only players that we may sign are freebies.

  2. I’ve lost count after all of these so-called players were linked with is there no accountability for all this BS

  3. Might be OK for us but I’m more excited about the Patrick Bamford and Allan Saint-Maximin imminent signings.

  4. It’s probably easier to name the players that HAVEN’T been linked with us so far….. Save the posts until you have some real news!

  5. No doubt t we’ll chase him for weeks then decide he’s too dear and sign someone from loan from the championship
