Hammers face anxious Aguerd wait

|

West Ham face an anxious wait over injury news on new signing Nayef Aguerd after he suffered from an ankle injury last night during the Hammers’ friendly clash with Rangers at Ibrox.

The Moroccan centre-back hobbled off after just 23 minutes of the game following a bad knock on his left ankle but Moyes quickly gave an update post match.

He declared: “We’ve already had Nayef x-rayed and there’s no break in his ankle, which is good news. It might be some ligaments, or he’s twisted his ankle – it blew up immediately so we have to hope it’s not a problem.”

ClaretandHugh understands that no further assessment or MRI scan has been possible today due to the extent of the bruising.

Aguerd will be properly assessed and scanned by the medical team once swelling and bruising subside but until then Moyes will need to patiently wait to hear for how long his 26-year-old centre-back will be out.

Ligament damage would mean months out of action so the manager will be hoping for good news once a scan of the soft tissue is possible.

well he looked dodgy to me anyway, are you sure we got the right man here, what with zouma, the slowest defender in the league, that cant run, coupled with the aging agbonna, we could be doomed.
did you notice zouma half hearted attempt to run after the frankfurt attacker, thats why cress got sent off, it was evident again against rangers yesterday, he is hopeless, god help us v man city, there always seems to be a 5 or 6 niller first game of the season, looking at the fixtures, i think its us.

I agree Zouma has been completely out of sorts since “catgate” and doesn’t look half the player that he was. Coupled with Ogbonna and Cressell being 34 and Dawson 32 there is no pace in the defense!
Your comment about City doesn’t surprise me we looked woeful against Rangers. Anyone harbouring delusions of a Top 6 finish needs to think again. If you look at the second half of last season only we would have finished 13th.
And the big signing we are awaiting is someone who was relegated with Burnley scored 0 goals and 1 assist in 38 games!
