Hammers failed deadline day bid revealed

 By Gonzo

A report from Norway is claiming that West Ham failed with a late deadline day move for Sheffield United colossus Sander Berge. The midfielder has previously been linked to the Hammers before he moved to the Yorkshire club.

It’s not entirely clear whether the offer was not accepted of if manager David Moyes pulled the plug on the transfer. Berge’s agent evidently spent the week leading up to deadline day in London meeting with both Fulham and West Ham.

The report states there was a genuine possibility of the Norwegian international signing for West Ham until very late on Deadline day. The Blades are understandably delighted to retain one of their key players, who was ready to travel to London for a medical at short notice.

The Irons midfield has been weakened numerically by the departure of Conor Coventry, however Flynn Downes performance against Derby must surely have impressed David Moyes. That being said, I’d expect a midfield axis or Paqueta and Rice to start against Newcastle United on Saturday.
