Much, much better v the bin dippers. More passion and graft – Randolph’s despair at his mistake for their equaliser, then his world class save from Henderson said a lot. It was good to see some of the youngsters in the match day squad too.
The horrendous run v the better teams is over and we should be seeking points from the next four games. Individually, I cannot see why we can’t win them all. In any event we should be comfortably mid-table come the new year.
I know we will lose Kouyate and Ayew for the African Cup of Nations (I doubt if Sakho will be fit enough to go), so it will be interesting to see what we do in the transfer market.
I’m pretty sure that Bilic will start with Carroll v Burnley, with Ayew and Fletcher on the bench, but that depends on which system he goes for. For the most part the flat back for at Liverpool was effective. Should he revert to the back three plus wing backs against the lesser teams?
For the first time in a while I am optimistic.
