Hammers fans dispute Sullivan’s Sky statement

|

David Sullivan declared that 95 per cent of the fans “are happy with the move” to the London Stadium when questioned on Sky Sports before kick off on Friday evening.

And that has left supporters bemused and angered and demanding to know where that figure came from.

The Hammers joint Chairman was thought to be referring to London Stadium season ticket renewal rate on the assumption that those who renewed their season tickets must have been happy with the stadium to do so.

A twitter poll run yesterday of over 2,600 supporters shows a different story. 73% claim they are not currently happy with the London Stadium while just 27% agree with the West Ham chairman and say they are.

Among the many responding was West Ham supporter Peter Caton who made his feelings very clear saying:Β “Totally unhappy with it. Nothing in my matchday experience is better than Upton Park.”

David, we go to the London Stadium because that’s where we play our home games but its not our home. We buy tickets because we love the club but not the way we are playing this season, I honestly don’t believe that 95% of the fans are happy.

Disastrous interview. Again you have to ask why not just keep quiet? I don’ t know whether Bilic has lost the dressing room but I think it is more likely that Sullivan is losing the supporters. I have been pretty solidly behind the owners for most of their time at the club. I was not a supporter of the move but I accepted reluctantly that it made financial sense. I have changed my mind on that one & so I would no longer class myself as ‘happy with the move’. I also think the way a lot of the practical issues have been managed was poor.

The Manager issue has also been badly handled. I have been in favour of a change for over a year, & strongly supported a change at the end of 2016/17, but it now seems that many previous Bilic supporters have changed their minds. Sullivan has come up with a fantasy figure on the ground move issue but is keeping quiet about fan support for the manager! Perhaps he would like to quote the recent C&H poll. Or at least comment on it.

Nothing will ever replace the Boleyn ground. Not even if we had a 150,000 seater Colliseum of a stadium, all singing, all dancing 22nd century technology proofed arena of stars. There is only and will ever only, be one Boleyn.
We grew up with it. We made ourselves part of it and you can never replace all those memories (good & bad) just like that.
However, moving forward, we have to do our best to make the London stadium the same. It’s gonna take time. Rome wasn’t built in a day. It could be better if we could own the stadium and make it our own with the changes which i don’t think i need to harp on about. The London stadium in years to come could be filled with new memories (hopefully more good than bad please) that our young ones can share with their off spring as we once were.

Its just another load of sully bullshyte. None of us believe anything this piece of πŸ’© says !!
Not developing Upton park was a cruel and greed generated issue designed to keep the sugo family legacy on track !! These cretins sold us down the line and I personally want them gone from our club asap , don’t bother with the , yes but who do you replace them with bullshyte because believe you me there’s defiantly someone out there who would give it a go and take us to the next level this dildo promised but will not spend the money to promote that promise,
Were in this athletics stadium now which isn’t even ours to do with as we like and are literally a historic club without a stadium that even remotely feels like home , far from it !! But the truth is until these cretins move on its never going to change , like the quotes I am reading about 95% of supporters agree with the move , its just woffel and self promoting of the move for personal gains down the line !!! Muppets utd !!!!, fek you and me lads , its as plain as the wallet in their pockets !!! Chancers using our cash to further their brand ? Scum 😈

We were told that the Olympic Stadium would be made to look and feel like home!…..well! We can’t walk to and from the ground as we like….we can’t play the games Unless “Westfield” give us permission……our games are moved to accommodate other events…..we can’t increase the crowd capacity……we can’t even change the colour of the pitch surrounding!

    HOME!….NOT IN MY LIFETIME!

I think the London Stadium is great! I’m 65 and went to my first Upton Park game aged 8 – and it was great too. But, like the David’s, I see the new Stadium as part of the way in which West ham will move to the ‘next level’. I think the stick our Chairmen get is so unfair it beggar’s belief. They’re life long fans who have put their money where their collective mouth is and the ‘Baroness’ brokered an incredibly good deal for the London Stadium. People like me rarely speak up because I can’t be bothered with twitter etc, and in consequence its mostly blinkered and biased moaners who make a totally disproportionate and unrepresentative cacophony.

    • Lazurus. rises like a salmon says:

I bet you think father Christmas is real to mate ? The baroness ?? Wtf ??? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ sorry mate but that sums you up to me lofl!!!! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
      Wakey wakey !

    • Spotted Dog says:

Totally agree Christopher. Social media commentators are a small section compared to the 50k plus supporters who attend the games. Nothing improves through negativity. The move’s been done so like it or not (and I do) the only way forward is to go forward.

    • Stratford E20 says:

I agree Chris. The loudest get heard but it doesn’t mean that they know best. I am happy that we have left Upton Park. We’re not doing bad because of a stadium – we’re bad because of a rubbish manager and our negative fans. We’ve moved – get over it

  • Hammerkip says:

Pathetic statement from Mr bull sh!!

  • Hammer64 says:

Christopher- the only side who have moved into the CL ‘level’ (apart from dear little Leicester who have not stayed there) are Spurs. They did it with a ground about the size of ours plus a rich backer. They didn’t get a big ground first as their way into the Big League. We were spun a story that this would open the door to us to join the elite. You have to agree we don’t show any signs of joining yet. We are all entitled to our opinions of course, but some of those you attack at the end of your piece might feel you are the blinkered one.

  • Hammersone says:

I’m not one of the supposed 95%…if we had to move why wasn’t it done the right way to a purpose built ground..the answer done on the cheap as they businessmen first West Ham fans second…I don’t know any supporters happy with this move and we are stuck with it..we can’t even put claret seats in or claret around the pitch…
