All are cordially invited to the Hammers Social Club in Castle Street next to the Boleyn Ground for the second meeting to form an independent supporters Trust.
Entry to the club is free and doors open at 10am this Saturday. The meeting will take place upstairs in the Trophy Room and begin at 12 noon sharp but if numbers exceed the room’s capacity we shall move to the general bar area. The aim is to finish by 1.30pm so we have enough time to go to the London Stadium and watch the demolition of Sunderland.
An agenda has been set and will be available in the club. A lot of hard work has gone on since the initial meeting on October 8th which went very well. A number of speakers have been contacted and invited. I shall chair the meeting. We are on the lookout for someone to take minutes so if you can help please make yourself known.
West Ham United are the only professional football club in London without a supporters Trust. Many other professional and non-league clubs up and down the country have supporters’ trusts.A proper supporters Trust is not a group of people wanting the limelight and making a noise. It is a recognised legal body that has rights.
It is affiliated to other legally recognised nationwide organisations. Mainstream media recognise Trusts as something bona fide as opposed to a few lads and lassies from the pub who have a drum to bang. Therefore a well-supported Trust will be able to approach West Ham with confidence.
The Trust, all being well on its formation, will be set up to put forward the interests of its membership as opposed to the interests of the committee. The key there is to be a member of the Trust and put forward your ideas / issues POSITIVE or negative. The Trust will act as a ‘critical’ friend of the club.
Seeing how to help the Supporters Club is one issue among many. West Ham United is mine and it’s your football club. A group of people are trying to get a Trust together to help represent YOU better as and when you need it so come to the meeting and / or join up when details are available and let’s go for it.
