Irons disinterested in Chelsea player connection

|

West Ham are reportedly interested in making a move for Chelsea’s Gary Cahill – a piece of gossip which first surfaced about six months ago..

And the reality is that despite The Mirrorr report it is as unlikely now as it was back then.

The former England defender has fallen out of favour at Chelsea and given that he is now 33 years of age that doesn’t come as a big surprise.

That the Hammers would be interested falls into the same category as fellow 33 year old Edin Dzeko being on the verge of signing a massive deal.

Pellegrini is definitely in the market for defensive reinforcements but the main candidate appears to be Alaves central defender Guillermo Maripan.

The 24 year old Chilean has made 31 appearances for the eighth place La Liga team this season and is well known to the manager.

We also understand the player has regularly been scouted by the Hammers this season.

He may have only appeared 14 times but how many did he miss because of injury and how many did he miss because Benitez doesn’t like him?

No more dead wood please. Enough is enough.

  • Buying younger and players with hunger should be the way to go.

Completely agree. I’m sick of signing overpaid has beens. Will we never learn?? I know a lot of this is paper talk and when players at bigger london clubs become available we’ll invariably get linked with providing their retirement plan but this needs to end. Scout well, buy young and if they move on they’ve built a reputation in the prem and will likely sell on for much more. Bascially do what Spurs do even if it pains me to say it. 10 years ago we weren’t far behind Spurs and now they’re on a completely different level. That gap is purely down to how the two clubs have been run. The ethos needs to change.

More interested in the Kramaric rumour than Dzeko who will cost a fortune, I mentioned on here a couple of times before Leicester sold him we should make a move. He really flopped at Leicester but you could see from his ability and his movement it was just a bit of confidence he was lacking otherwise it was all there.
