A new film for West Ham told by West Ham fans will be launched in March. Called ‘Iron Men’ the film follows the journey of West Ham fans as they prepare to leave the Boleyn Ground and move to the London Stadium.
The independent British production made by the same people who made the film documentary ‘Ronaldo’ was not commissioned or funded by the club but they did allow unprecedented access to the Boleyn Ground and London Stadium during production. Among those who they followed were OLAS fanzine founder, Gary Firmager who decided to not to renew his season ticket in the new stadium. They also follow 100 year Hammers super fan Mabel Arnold. One blind West Ham fan also talks of his experiences at both venues.
Another Hammer to feature in the film is Mark Gevaux aka the Ribman, in one scene he feeds Mark Noble his famous ribs.
Filming was completed yesterday at the London Stadium including a small cameo interview by ClaretandHugh associate editor, Sean Whetstone talking about his personal experience of the new stadium.
Final editing begins today with a limited cinema release to be announced closer to March.
‘Iron Men ‘will be available for Digital HD download from 3rd March, on sale on the West Ham shop from 4th March and is available on DVD from 6th March.
Lol I will probably end up on the cutting room floor and not make the final edit
Shameless plug there Sean LOL, looking forward to seeing you on IMDb!
I spoke to the producer yesterday who said the club were not behind the film, they are not paying for it to be made although obviously they worked closely with the club for access.
“…was not commissioned or funded by the club…” Didn’t Brady say the Club was making the film at The Sport Business Summit back in October?
