Hammers first signing of January to be announced

|

West Ham will announce their first signing of the winter in the guise of Samir Nasri before the transfer window opens but we may need to wait a little while for his full debut.

The 31-year old French midfielder 12-month ban ends at midnight tonight and he is free to play for any club as from tomorrow. He has been training with the first team squad since November in an attempt to regain his fitness and has already signed a contract with the Hammers last week. His registration with the Premier League was finalised today.

Wednesday’s evening game against Brighton may come too soon for the new recruit both in terms of match fitness levels but Claret and Hugh have been told there is a bigger possibility he will be involved in the FA Cup third round against Birmingham City this Saturday at the London Stadium.

It is believed that Nasri will take a lower basic wage on a short-term contract which is heavily incentivised to play, win and succeed.

Awful signing. But we have no money so bargain basement signings are all we can expect.

Perhaps we should wait and see how he performs before judging whether or not he’s an awful signing…? Unless you know something our manager and director of football doesn’t…?

Hopefully a good signing and if reports are correct on a sensible deal not like Wilshere’s deal. Our Jan Transfer window approach should be sign on a loan with a view to a permanent deal or if we see an outstanding prospect then sign on a permanent contract. We should not be entertaining signings like Medel who are past their best and will not bring us to where we want to be. Sanchez, Perez and Wilshere are all great examples of what we should be avoiding. Based on the first 20 games I believe we need a top LB, top CM (with legs), a left winger/striker. I would be happy to see the back of Cresswell, Perez, Carroll and Hernandez in this window. if Reid is back then I would also consider selling Ogbanna. I really hope Pelle stops playing the likes of Cresswell, Noble , Carroll and Perez. I would much prefer to see players like Maskauka, Obiang, Oxford and Silva in the team.

Stop playing cresswell? Masuaku can’t defend to save his life, Brighton and others this season as examples. Cresswell played very well at the saints, and we all know no one had a good game yesterday at Burnley. Nobes I prefer over obiang, he’s got more about him all round. Again stats prove we win more with him than without. Carroll nearly scored yesterday and is good to bring on. Perez I don’t rate however. Oxford has not been fancied by many managers at West Ham, his attitude has got to be questionable. As for silva, let’s see what he has. You can’t just chuck a load of inexpierenecd players in John, the league doesn’t work like that. I hope the boy powell gets a chance, and Browne going out to oxford surprised me early in the season.
