West Ham flop Kalvin Phillips could be set to be offered a transfer escape route and, unbelievably, the chance to play Premier League football again.

It had widely been assumed that Phillips would need to drop down a division and rebuild his career, given his fall from grace last season.

The midfielder was expected to sign for Leeds United on either a loan or a drastically reduced fee, having been told by Manchester City that he has no future at the Etihad. However, it now seems that Everton could be set to offer Phillips a lifeline and a last crack at top-flight football.

Everton are believed to be searching for a replacement for Belgian midfielder Amadou Onana following his £50m departure to Aston Villa and are keen on Phillips, himself a former £50m transfer.

A favourite of Gareth Southgate, Phillips had a horrendous loan stint at West Ham last season in an experiment that saw us lose £6m on loan fees and wages for the midfielder.

This is another made up story! I mean it must be? Are Everton really that stupid?

Not every loan deal or permanent transfer works out as hoped for all parties concerned. I wish Phillips well at his next club. He’s a decent player.

The only reason Phillips come to West Ham on loan last season was to get into the Euro’s squad but then reality struck and the world found out he wasn’t good at playing football anymore.

Still surprised Southgate didn’t pick him as being able to play has be an optional extra throughout his tenure lol

Geezers stealing a living…..no ambition,no drive,no pride in his work.
Hes been more than happy to sit on Citys bench the last couple of seasons and pick up his medals that he hasn’t earnt or contributed to in anyway.
For me he goes down as the worst loan signing in our history and I count Sasa Ilic in that

They need their heads examined if they sign Philips to replace Onana! He will keep the bench warm tho, while he is collecting £100k+ a week

  • Phil Baker says:

So Everton need a boot boy .
