CandH Antonio signing Exclusive by Hughie Southon

West Ham decided to offer Mikey Antonio a new deal after neither Wolves or El Atthad would make  a serious bid for the 33 year old No 9.

Mikey had shown last season that he was still in the goal scoring business, hitting the net 14 times in all competitions.

This season he is at it again having scored in the wins over Chelsea and Brighton and Hove Albion.

Our key insider told Claret and Hugh tonight ( Monday) that there was real interest from Wolves in the winter window and the Saudis earlier in this last one but neither would make an offer which made any sense to the club in financial terms.

He revealed exclusively: “Both wanted him for virtually nothing in order to give him higher wages. We believe that adding a year to his contract is good for him and West Ham United and a reward for his loyalty.”
