Hammers give up on Ward-Prowse

Ward-Prowse

West Ham have failed in their bid to sign Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse.

The Saints skipper has been a top target for the Irons over the last few weeks but have refused to go anywhere near the £40 million being asked by the relegated Saints.

The Hammers are understood to have pulled out of the talks after making their offer of £25 million which they believed was the best they could do for a 28 year old with no sell on value.

It means that the club has failed in its efforts to bring in the Saints skipper, Conor Gallagher and Scott McTominay but we understand that David Moyes has gone back to Old Trafford in a bid to bring in £170,000 a week central defender Harry Maguire.

Commenting on the decision to quit on Ward-Prowse, our best placed source at the club told us: “We made our best offer which was rejected. We move on.”

It seems something has to give when manager wants to sign certain players and the money men pull the rug under him. Low ball offers are making the club a laughing stock and unless reinforcements are signed the club will be in deep crap. Back the manager or sack him.

Thankfully common sense prevailed. I have to laugh at the fact that PL clubs are buying the best talent around the world with no PL experience and Moyes seemingly thinks the way to go is to buy players with PL experience. Can all the other managers be possibly wrong and Moyse the only one to be right !!!!!! The words madness and insanity come to mind.

Serious. Worrying. Pathetic. Laughing stock. No idea of the market.
As for going back for Maguire. I know we desperately need leadership in the squad but he isn’t worth the wages he is on and if we’ve pulled out of JWP at £25m as there is no sell on fee for him at aged 28, why would we offer similar monies for a 30 yr old. Nonsensical.
