Reports that West Ham have reached an agreement with Ajax to sign left-back Nico Tagliafico for €12M on a four-year contract have been flatly denied this evening by a club insider.
Dutch journalist Mike Verweij claimed that only personal terms were left to complete but the Hammers are bemused saying they have no idea where the rumour came from.
The 28-year-old Argentian joined Ajax in 2018 for £4m and has a contract with the Dutch side until June 2023.
The insider said there will be no more permanent signings this summer assuming they complete the Nikola Vlasic gets over the line today or tomorrow with the chance of an additional loan player also a possibility in the next twenty-four hours.
The signing of Vlasic will completely spend the summer transfer budget which will reach £57m combined for four/five players or over £70m if you include potential add-ons so we can forget any tales of late permanent deals before the transfer window shuts tomorrow.
In addition to Vlasic, we need another attacking player in as a priority over a left back so I hope the loan signing will be a forward. I was hoping we would sign Hlozek in addition to Vlasic. It looks like Lingard is not happening. I do like the look of the Montpellier striker Laborde who can play anywhere up top but I cannot see Montpellier sending him out on loan.
