Hammers have surprising Nottingham Forest record | West Ham News

West Ham’s trip to the City Ground this afternoon offers the Irons a chance to improve on their recent performances this season: No wins in two in the Premier League and also losing to Wolves and being dumped out of the Carabao cup is as bad a start to a season as most would care to remember.

Graham Potter ‘s insistence on using Jarrod Bowen as a striker and leaving three of them on the bench was not greeted with warmth and understanding by Hammers fans would couldn’t believe West Hams negative set up for a knock out cup.

Returning to the last Premier League fixture ahead of the international break, the Irons- as kindly pointed out by nottinghamforestnews.com – have on the face of it, a pretty poor record against the midlands side. Their gleeful article titled:

“West Ham have not scored at the City Ground in the Premier League since 1996”; Is a little disingenuous as the two sides have only met FOUR times in the intervening 29 years. However, yes, as they say, it is correct:

“The Hammers have not scored away to Forest in the Premier League in 29 years. The last player to do so was Michael Hughes in a 2-0 loss for the Garibaldi back in 1996.”

So any sign of Graham Potter setting up in his now familiar 3-5-2 defensive, striker-less shape will depress the claret and blue followers whilst ensure one of the least desirable Premier League records looks like remaining for another season at least.

Just for once, could we see a bit of aggression and a 3-4-3 shape ? Surely I’m not alone in hoping for a couple of goals from West Ham? Callum Wilson, now’s your chance to start boosting your popularity at London Stadium!

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

If he was going to play a defensive set up, three at the back anywhere you’d expect it to be away from home to Forest when we’ve been conceding goals and losing matches wouldn’t you?

In mdfield/ attack Antonio, Ings, Ferguson, Soler, Kudus out, just Wilson & Fernandes in. Negative set ups that don’t work from Potter. Bowen played out of position.

Potter has to try to win the midfield battle and go with midfield 3 in a 433. But I fear he will roll out the same tactics as before and hope for some kind of miracle.

Fernandes I hope lifts us, but he was part of a poor Southampton that got relegated, so he alone we can’t expect to turn it around today.

It’s on Potter and his formation and tactics, but I don’t trust him one bit!!

Let’s see with the line up today 😏

I have this funny feeling that after all the negative publicity Callum Wilson will turn out to be our HOTY!
