Hammers hero discusses Soucek’s future

There’s always going to be speculation around our top players.

We’ve had it for months with Declan and unsurprisingly it’s now become Tomas Soucek’s turn.

With so many websites out there looking for hits these days, not to mention the stuff peddled by mainstream press, this comes as no surprise.

So it’s good to hear a respected former West Ham star making it clear – and rightly – that the Czech Republic skipper and Hammers brilliant midfielder will be staying exactly where he is right now.

He does believe he will need a contract however.

But with the prospect of European football on the agenda there’s no reason for Tomas to be playing his football anywhere but with us and Frank McAvennie  believes that will be the case.

The former Hammers striker has been talking about the defensive midfielder’s future and has no doubt that he will be remaining with the club and  with that bigger contract into the foreseeable future.

He told Football FanCast“He’s bought into David Moyes. I think he needs a new contract. West Ham can pay the big bucks, but they’re not going to do it at the beginning.

“So Mr Sullivan paid him bottom drawer, not bottom drawer to us, bottom drawer is about 40 or 50 grand, but I think he’s worth more than that.

“But I don’t see a problem. People love London and West Ham are a decent club, I loved them. The fans love Soucek.

If you give him the money he deserves, I don’t where he would go. Where he is going to go where you’re going to get a game all the time and be loved.

“He’s Lampard-like – a midfielder player that scores goes. He’s enjoying it, why would he want to move? He’ll get the wages, and be on par with everyone else and be happy.”
