Live on sky sports, Niclas Fullkrug told it like it was and blamed his West Ham team mates squarely for backing off and not carrying out the manager’s game plan as the Hammers surrendered their goal advantage instead of pushing on for a second goal to kill the game off.
Likely to be controversial, Fullkrug’s rant contained expletives and and an admission of the striker being’ very angry’ over the team’s performance. Many have been reprimanded by their team for speaking out – if Niclas’ rant could be described a’speaking out”- but reported this afternoon by the telegraph.co.uk, Fullkrug’s outburst has certainly put the cat amongst the pigeons at London Stadium.
According to Jason Burt, writing this afternoon:
“West Ham hierarchy sympathise with Niclas Fullkrug’s rant about team-mates-German striker will not face any punishment for describing side’s performance as ‘s—’ after they squandered victory against Southampton”
Which is a staggering admission that the board directors are in agreement with a player over the performance of the team and agree with his language- indeed many of them probably wish they could voice exactly the same verdict: After all, it was s**t.
The Telegraph continues:
“However, the club fully support Potter and have been hugely impressed by his work on the training ground and behind the scenes. But there is frustration at how West Ham have dropped points late on in games, with Southampton scoring in the 93rd minute to salvage a draw. “
Having appointed Potter just three months ago after firing his predecessor, they could hardly say anything else. Another sacking at this stage of the season would destroy any hope West Ham have of having a successful transfer window: Having fired Tim Steidten and his team, the Hammers are totally reliant upon Potter and Macaulay to head the recruiting.
Quite how popular Niclas Fullkrug will be in the dressing room tomorrow is unclear – he doesn’t look as if he care anyway and it will be a comfort for him to know he has cheerleaders in the boardroom who agree with his outburst.
Lol, punish Fullkrug, think they know they would have had a fan rebellion on their hands. But it does highlight the lack of commitment on the pitch. Need him to stay and get the right characters into the midfield. If anyone is offended in the dressing room then they shouldn’t be there anyway.
Best thing I’ve heard from anyone connected with West Ham in years.
He is 100 percent correct and it’s been a long time coming.
As a club, the European runs and win under Moyes masked a lot and whilst I think Loppy was dealt with harshly by the club and certain players, nobody could have thought the backwards steps would have been so big with Loppy and even more so since him.
We look absolutely lost under Potter and there are no real signs of any hope and whilst as a West Ham fan, it is drilled into you to be pessimistic and as a 54 year old, it’s something I’ve been used to and seen many bad times but for me, there sre no signs that things might get better and for that reason alone, Fullkrug deserves to be applauded for his brutal but truthful honesty.
A fresh of breath air amongst the stench.
They say the truth hurts and Fullkrug is generous as only calling us sh@t,we have been diabolical for a long time now.
The hard truth is we died as a club as a community as a fanbase the day we left Upton Park.
I blame Sullivan,Brady and Gold for the position we are in now, they sold us down the river just to line there pockets.
Doesn’t matter who the manager is we will never do anything untill Sullivans reign is over and we are owned by someone who is going to run the club properly, with the first item on the agenda a purpose built proper football stadium instead of the crap we have now, sadly that’s never going to happen….
Why don’t you do something useful and do a survey on how many West Ham fans actually enjoy going to the London Stadium ?
I can tell you now it won’t be many..
Sullivan Blah Blah Blah 🥱
Gold Blah Blah Blah 🥱
Brady Blah Blah Blah 🥱
Lazy and lamentable same old same old blaming 🙄
He’s right end of.
West Ham could have had 46 points with a little more luck. The team has lost points late in the matches. They have played well against the better teams as Aston Villa. Liverpool, Chelsea. There has been a lot of injuries in the squad. I see a potential in the game, but seem to be alone about it. Graham Potter has foundc and developed players like Mac Alister, Bissouma, Trossard, Mitom,. Curella. West Ham would need some more such players
Punishment ?!?!? .. they shoiuld make him fkn Captain !
They are all on the fkn beach already
About time someone stood up and said how it is..bowen like you as a player you need to step down as a captain and revert to your old self with the freedom to play. let someone else take the responsibility and sort this team out
They should pin a medal on his chest. Thank God we have finally found a player that is passionate and cares about how we perform.
His teammates should follow his example. It really would be appalling if they turned on him for this. If he ends up being ostracised by the other players then the club should ditch the rest of them and build a side around him.
He couldn’t be fined it would have backfired immediately.
A crowd fund would have doubled the fine, shamed the club and been another story making the whole situation bigger and louder.
Well done Fullkrug for saying it how it is. Half the team try to push on and press. Half the team want to sit and defend. Probably describes most teams quite honestly. Attackers want to attack. Defenders want to defend. Still I think I know he’s talking about.
Should not be punished for telling the truth we were rubbish and have been all season so what’s new.
Fullkrug was spot on. We are shocking. Just a shame he didn’t apologise for his own contribution this season because he is equally culpable for the dross we’ve paid to watch.
He has been injured for most of the season.
Apologise for that?
As club captain why isnt Bowen coming out with these sort of statements
Nearly every fellow WHU fan I know shares Fullkrugs sentiments. It’s about time someone spoke the truth openly. Make the man captain till the end of the season and perhaps he’ll kick some butts where it’s needed and as for Graham Potter making 5 changes on the 75 minute and onward when we were 1-0 up and totally under siege and taking off Bowen, Kudus, Fullkrug, JWP & Emerson and replacing with Guilherme, Scarles, Soucek, Mavro & Ferguson, the last 2 came on @ 86 minutes.
This is Sunday league management . If we’d been 3-0 up then yes but we were having the kitchen sink thrown at us by then!!! Of course they scored and the rest is history. I believe each position in the league is worth a couple of mill???
And this article says the board is really happy with what Graham Potter is doing at the club???
⚒️⚒️⚒️
100% agree Mick. And to allow 15 shots from a club who have been bottom of the league for 170 days with the lowest points total in PL history is unbelievable. If the board are happy with that sh-t performance from the team and manager then we really should wonder how many other teams will be as bad as the 3 promoted clubs this year which saved us from relegation. I backed Potter to start with but his substitutions were completely unbelievable and no wonder Fullkrug was so angry. No good Bowen sitting on the fence with the usual cliches he needs to kick arse like Dec and Nobes would have done pushing players demanding better performances. Potter is the wrong man for the job and 3 wins in 13 games is relegation form, yet the board continue to back him. This season has been sh-t and surely no-one watching that game can seriously believe we have made any progress under Potter?
Fullkrug is 100% right to be angry with his team mates and that sh-t performance. At least he cares about our club, our fans and our future unlike many of the overpaid prima Donna’s who are just there for the money and their next big pay day. I am sick of hearing “We have to do better”. Get on and bloody well do it then and yes players have every right to call out others who do not put in the effort or commitment including the manager when he makes more ridiculous decisions. I don’t care how unpopular he is with certain team mates in the dressing room. Maybe it’s them that need to look in the mirror and demand more from themselves and each other instead of shrugging their shoulders as we look down the table in embarrassment. Thank God the 3 promoted teams are even worse than us this season as it sure as hell won’t happen again. Potter is the wrong man for the job and talks a good game, but 3 wins in 13 games is guaranteed relegation form. More power to Fullkrug calling others out, we are sick of seeing players on huge contracts who don’t show half the passion he has for this club and supporters.
Fullkrug has thanked fans for backing him, he added…
“You guys in the stands deserved the win. Thank you for the supporter Hammers!”
to punish him i would extend his contract , how dare he speak the truth and say it how it is.
Exactly! This team is the pits right now. Think he has had enough, out the door for him, pastures new
Refreshingly honest someone with balls who shows he cares not just give it lip service
You caaaants dont help us as a club.
I really wish you would just go on holiday now. Make us look so mickey mouse, no better than the kids over at the spuds. Gonzo, is nt he a muppet, says it all!
Fulkrug’s rant could be a prelude to a summer transfer request . Clearly he’s a player with heart and doesn’t want to be with a bunch of losers . Potter has failed tactically in almost every match and that’s not going to change by selling the best and most creative players and bringing in a couple of mediocre drones . I suspect that Fulkrug can already see the writing on the wall for Westham . Current tactical missteps could easily result in no more wins this season , but Sullivan would still avoid the sack option because of the compensation required .
Quite simply, Fullkrug is a leader and we need more of his ilk. I don’t want him sold, he is a class player with a class attitude.
Anyone of the players who don’t align themselves with Niclas are doing themselves and the club a disservice. It’s about time someone stood up to be counted.
At last somebody has the guts to say what the fans are feeling as nobody else at this club listens
I don’t care how popular Fullkrug is in the dressing room more of his honesty please as it’s popular with me and from the look of other comments popular with others too.
Add to that he’s putting in good honest shifts, the more Fullkrug I see the better to be perfectly honest.
