Fabrizio Romano has suggested that West Ham could be pivotal in Juventus signing Mason Greenwood from Manchester United.
Tenuous? You bet it is. The unusual transfer claim relies on the principle that Juventus must sell before they can buy. This likely explains why the Italian club seems more eager to sell their winger Matias Soule than West Ham are to buy him.
The 21-year-old Argentine winger, currently back at Juventus, gained significant attention during his loan spell at Frosinone last season. Soule is an incredibly talented player with a standout highlight reel, raising questions about why Juventus is so keen to offload him. The left-footer primarily plays on the right wing and scored 11 Serie A goals in his breakthrough campaign.
Juventus value Soule at around £34m, and his sale to West Ham would free up funds to move for Greenwood.
In his daily round-up, Romano elaborated on the Greenwood/Soule situation: “There is interest from Juventus in Greenwood but they have to sell at least one offensive player before they can land the player. Matias Soule is attracting concrete interest from West Ham and others, but no formal bid yet. Juventus want around €40m to let Soule leave the club, so it won’t be an easy negotiation.”
There is clear interest in the player from West Ham, however the club are keen to cement the signings f a striker and central defender before allocating transfer funds towards another winger.
He seems an exciting player but I think a bit rich @ 34mil. Maybe 18-20mil max.
Italian clubs seem to offer pittance when they buy players and then demand a ransom when the PL clubs come in.
