Hammers humble Arteta’s Gunners

|

Where has that performance been hiding? West Ham were barely recognizable from the meek, timid cautious team we’ve witnessed recently.

David Moyes team pressed from the front against Arsenal and demonstrated a resolve and attacking verve which has not been on display this season. I must admit to penning the obituaries after 11 minutes of the game at the London Stadium, the initial draft of this blog did not make for pretty reading at all.

However the reaction from the team was as welcome as it was unexpected. This was a performance as feisty and committed as any during the Covid era when West Ham were at their swashbuckling best. Put simply we deserved to win, and I can only hope that we play with as much attacking intent for the remainder of the season.

When the team press from the front and defend & attack in equal measure The Hammers can be an irresistible force but we’ve seen it too infrequently this season.

Bowen scored West Ham’s second

I have little doubt that if the team continue to perform as they did against Arsenal today, we’ll be safe from relegation long before the final game against Leicester City.
