West Ham want to sign a new left-back in the January transfer window, according to a new report from The London Evening Standard.
The Hammers are in the market for a new central defender as well as a striker as the Irons look to reinforce in their bid to qualify for the Champions League this season.
The injuries sustained by Kurt Zouma and Angelo Ogbonna have sharpened the need for a new central defender but the Standard reports that there is also interest in a new left-back.
That has come about due to the injury sustained by Aaron Cresswell.
Arthur Masuaku and Ben Johnson have both deputised in the position in his absence but there is a desire to bring a new specialist left-back into the club.
No names are mentioned in the report but we can see this being accurate, especially given the lack of depth within the squad in the defensive positions.
Is there any reason why Lucas Digne hasn’t been mentioned? We would be the perfect destination for the 28yr old and considering he’s out of favour at Everton, it seems like a no brainer to me.
I know he’s been linked with Chelsea but that won’t happen!

Yes Dave left back is a big problem, because as we all know Arthur is a poor defender. This is in turn exposing the left sided centre back when they try too hard to cover the channel that is exposed by Arthur. So it’s true we need a left back as well as a centre back.
Trippier to Newcastle for 12mill. Must be on 100,000 pw. Now day 5 and not much of a sniffle of a bid or talks.
Day 5 – getting desperate. 🙂
