West Ham are tonight being reported as tracking Dynamo Kiev defender Domagoj Vida.
They may find themselves involved in scrapping it out with Stoke, Everton and Sunderland although relegation would put the Black Cats out of the race for the the 27-year-old, who will have a year left on his contract in the summer.
The four clubs are looking to strengthen in central defence, with West Ham also after a right-back and a striker when the transfer window reopens.
Vida can play centre-back or either full-back position.
Sunderland have been tracking him for more than a year, but are bottom of the table and look certain to miss out on the player.
