Hammers in for Ligue 1 striker – report

|

West Ham are eyeing a deal to sign Marseille striker Bamba Dieng, according to a new report in France.

The Hammers are certainly in the market for a new striker in the January transfer window as the club look to provide support and back-up to Mikey Antonio through the middle.

La Provence now reports that there are a number of Premier League clubs interested in signing the forward, with Crystal Palace and Aston Villa both also monitoring his situation.

Dieng is just 21 and he can play as both a centre-forward and a left winger.

Thus far this season, he’s scored four goals in 20 games, which is not an incredible return for a player who is regularly the club’s main striker.

He has also won four caps for Senegal but has not scored a goal.

This is the first time a report like this has emerged and Dieng has a contract until 2024, so we can’t really see this coming to anything unless Moyes is looking for a player who can solely act as a youthful understudy to Antonio, rather than actual competition.
