Transfer news: Irons in new bid for Spurs’ Adebayor

|

AdebEmmanuel Adebayor is reportedly back on the Hammers wanted list as the club continues its striker search.

According to the London Evening Standard, the club has up to a dozen targets in mind although ClaretandHugh has been told many of those would be on a loan basis as the club continues to keep its money in the bank as it seeks to prise Javier Hernandez out of Old Trafford.

Adebayor, who has scored 35 Premier League goals in 92 appearances for Tottenham, has also attracted interest from Aston Villa, and the north Londoners are keen to sell him for around £5 million.

But, despite Daniel Levy’s previous reluctance to do a wage sharing deal, the Spurs chairman’s stance has weakened in recent days and the club may now consider such an arrangement in order to get a substantial amount of his wages off their books.

Austin and Carroll are very similar as is Adebayor similar to Magia, I think we are looking for someone with a football brain or quick feet or both

  • Hammerman6 says:

Adebyour no no no. Jimenez good riddance dodged that bullet.

  • Baz Brushe says:

If Austin has bad knees he hides it well,he has played 150 games in the last four seasons near as damn it.We will be waiting 20yrs for Carroll to reach that amount, lol

  • Dainon says:

Its just the local evening rag filling some space in their gossip section, If we sign this mug it’ll go against everything that has happened since 5 mins after the final game of last season

It will never happen for a million reasons

That’s the second time I’ve seen Sow mentioned – never heard of him!

You can’t see ManU letting Hernandez go – they’re a bit thin in that area themselves.
I thought Negredo couldn’t settle in England and asked to go back to Spain.
As for Austin, I’ve heard his knees are a problem.

It’s a minefield ain’t it – come on Dave’s you can sort it out!

I see Carlton Cole is back training at Chadwell Heath – make of that what you will. I am a huge supporter of the owners but this striker situation is getting silly. We have 12 million to spend on Hernandez but then get out bid by Benfica for Jimenez who is half the price? You could say the owners are on the look out for a striker with premier league experience but Hernandez hasn’t done it in the prem for a few years and I think his wages would be very high. If they want to stay in this country I think the only two option are either Austin or Rhodes. Both will have sell on value and see West Ham as a step up. Otherwise take a bit of a risk and go aboard. I just don’t understand how one minute we have 12 million to spend and the next thing we are only looking at loans. Looking at our net spend there should certainly be cash available. I just wish we were told what was going on without giving our transfer targets away!

I agree with irons Essex and would take a punt on Gayle. Always seem to score when he plays and could be good in combo with Carroll when fit.

  • GW says:

Simply put ….No… do not line that slimy ******** Levy’s pocket, do not have that mercenary Adebeyor anywhere near the squad and more importantly have nothing to do with Tottscum…Mystic Bradders has not said he will be signing so obviously its not true lol

  • bubs says:

Another time waster same as last 2 windows,
Starting to feel we are being treated as mugs again, there are forwards out there that can be signed in days but that would mean spending money,
Now Lee is going out on loan that leaves us with Sakho and Magic Magia,
Are we planning a relegation battle as part of our plans 2 bad tackles 2 freak injuries and
Oxford will be back as the only forward we have
    Ops forgot Carltons back training

  • Lt. Quickdrawovic 1st Slavalry C&H Regt says:

Can’t see this one filling their coffers for someone who’s past it,only good for 3 to 4 games and I can’t see him having the work ethic to fit in with Slavs plans.

  • IronsEssex says:

Hernandez, Sow, Negredo, Austin they are forwards we should be trying our best to sign, Id rather take Dwight Gayle from palace then this voodoo magic mug

  • Teddy Salad says:

Don’t like the sound of this, he’s got the talent but is far too lazy. A bad idea.

  • hammer4life says:

Unfortunately 32 I think Levy will do a deal because it suits them. For that reason alone I don’t want this to happen. I think bubs has been right saying we will end up with 2 strikers on the cheap. Imo there’s no point in signing has been strikers just to make up the numbers.

  • hammers64 says:

Not Adebayor please. number 1 target is Hernandez but that’s so complicated because of Uniteds lack of strikers. Not sure this one will come to fruition even if they sign Pedro from Barca.Would love to see the owners just stop all this striker merry go round and offer the 13 million for Austin and have done with it.

  • salesb says:

Come one! No! We need a first team competing striker if not an outright key player, not a backup player whos only gonna decline in quality over the time we have them when they are already pretty poor

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

Fortunately Levy the Dictator won’t deal with us so I am not at all worried, if we really want to hurt the Spuds we should string them along that we are going to buy him until the last second of the transfer window then pull out !!!

  • TRB says:

NO WAY!! Just go and get Austin. WH must be able to sign him for £13-14m

  • sleepswithdafishes says:

Lets hope that if we sign him on loan, that the money saved by Spurs on his wages won’t be used to seal a deal by them for hernandez.
